Music Envy: Duran Duran - Rio

This bass line is out of control. For that matter, this video is out of control. Furthermore, their hair is out of control.

Music Envy: Dave Grohl ‘Band on the Run’ @ The White House

It’s not often you see Dave Grohl suited up. It is also not often you see Barack rockin’ out. Foot Tapper!

Dear Paul McCartney … Band on the run? Really? Genius.

Music Envy: Big Boi ft. The Roots. “Shutterbugg”

After years of listening to both outkast and the roots … finally the best of both worlds. I love live organic hip hop.

Music Envy: Motion City Soundtrack covers Pavement

I remember a few things about my middle school experience. One of them was jamming out to Pavement’s ‘Cut Your Hair’ The video features a small clip of why MCS chose to cover Pavement. The lead singer, Justin Pierre, lists Pavement as one of the bands he grew up with and could listen to forever. I think I missed the train on Pavement, but I have a good feeling Darby is well versed. I’m going to have to give him a call.

Music Envy: The Pretenders - Night In my Veins

I think at this point we all know that I love pop music to no end. That being said, I too often forget about The Pretenders. Chrissie Hynde and the boys really bring the thunder to this morning show. I particularly enjoy the solo section @ 2:20. It’s always great to see a string quartet lose their minds.  After doing a few rounds of youtube surfing, I also really enjoyed this performance of ‘In the Middle of the Road.’

I know that the 80’s were an interesting time, but there is just something particularly amazing about this video.
